Data Management

Successful GIS implementation and use is dependent on a robust approach to data management. Current, accurate, complete, and maintained data is essential to making informed business decisions.

We provide advice and support to a variety of customers in the development of their data management plans, as well as providing hosted services for the processing, update, and distribution of third party data.

Forth Valley GIS currently provide corporate GIS data and metadata management services and strategies for Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling councils.  We serve data through ESRI clients from within an Oracle 9i environment (known as “GeoSTORE”).  We also act as Liaison Officer for the Local Authority Mapping Service Agreement on behalf of the three partner Councils.  Our GIS data co-ordinator provides a central point of contact for data related issues.

Data suppliers

We have excellent working relationships with many external data suppliers, and use high quality products such as those supplied by Ordnance Survey (OS).  Our staff  have a wealth of experience in using a wide variety of third party geographic datasets.

We are Ordnance Survey Accredited Data Consultants.
