Project Management
Robust project management is critical to the efficient and cost effective development and delivery of GIS solutions. Forth Valley GIS have an excellent track record of successful GIS project management spanning many years.
Our methodology is PRINCE2 compliant, meeting the requirements of Modernising Government projects. Our approach, used to great success is both business led and user focused. The process driven approach clearly establishes the main activities, project sequencing, and project controls, reducing risks and ensuring successful outcomes for the client - irrespective of project scale.
The following factors contribute to our successful record of project management:
- Projects are fully scoped, planned, managed, controlled, and consistently documented to a high standard
- Full consultation with the Project Board, stakeholders, and customers, ensures that direction and control is maintained at all stages of each project
- A robust process model for project management with standard templates for all key aspects of project documentation (e.g. project initiation document, highlight/exception reports, work package definition, risk and issue logs)
- Projects are skillfully managed and co-ordinated by a designated Project Manager co-ordinating a Project Team, containing the cross-section of skills from various staff that may be required depending on the project deliverables
- Milestones and targets for deliverables are closely monitored and reviewed
- Our team of GIS professionals have a wide range of specialist knowledge, experience and skills to manage a variety of GIS projects of varying scales. The majority of our staff have received PRINCE2 training and are continually developing additional skills to meet growing customer requirements
